Point A
Being an accounting major has kept me constricted to one application on the computer; spreadsheets. While I consider myself somewhat of a proficient user, I feel I have lost out on the mechanics of other applications. My experience up to this point with the Internet has mainly been for communication purposes. I say this because of the large amount of e-mail I do for my correspondence. Although I have done some light research, I find the Internet to be accommodating for personal interest.
Being a college student, it is hard for me to find time to read a daily newspaper or catch the nightly news. The Internet is always accessible with up to date forecasts on the weather, politics, and other international feature stories. This past summer I used FrontPage express to update the college’s course catalog on our web page. This was my first experience using FrontPage Express, and I found it to be user friendly with its WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format. It is interesting to view other state colleges’ web pages and see how much further we are comparatively. It was enhance our web pages and I am interested in continuing to improve it, perhaps on the student activities’ end.
I am hoping this course will enhance my WWW knowledge and allow me to be a more efficient user when I enter the job market in December. Any concepts that I can grasp on enhancing or building web pages will be useful in my future.
